Investigate the FIFA Goal Project Scam in Anambra State, Fr Dike Charges Sports Writers

. . . As SWAN Honours DOSAD, AIFL, NEROS, ROJENNY, Udala, Others

By Chinecherem Efobi

The Director of DOSAD Sports, Rev Fr Obinna Dike has urged sports writers to unearth the reason why the FIFA GOAL Project billed for Anambra State years ago is yet to come to reality. Fr Dike said this at the award night to mark the end of Sports Writers, Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Week, Anambra State Chapter, which held at Suncity Exclusive Hotel, Awka Anambra State, on November 30, 2019.

Rev Fr Dike who is a grade one certified football coach, as well as Sports Psychologist cum Administrator, lent his voice to the paper presented on the night by Dr Abakare on SWAN and Sports Development, to urge sports journalists to pay the price of sports development by exposing corruption in the sports sector. “Everybody is crying that sport is going down in this country and state, yet not much is being done. Sports writers must take the blame squarely because their work ethics in a corrupt environment lacks a meaningful push. In Anambra here, SWAN must let the public know why the FIFA GOAL Project that had Anambra as one of the beneficiaries is yet to come to reality, among so many other sports anomalies” Fr Dike said.

The Rev Fr who is the sports Director for Awka Diocese, as well as the Deputy Director Fides Communications, urged his fellow awardees to keep maintaining their strides on individual sports development in Anambra State and beyond. He commended Tony Oji –led SWAN Anambra for realizing that “starting today” is still a good way to go.

SWAN Anambra honoured some personalities for making positive impact in sports in Anambra State and beyond. They included Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka through Rojenny Sports Initiatives, Chief Dr Poly Emenike through NEROS sports projects and Annual Federation cup and Nanka Champions League, and Rev Fr Coach Obinna Dike through DOSAD Sports Initiatives (DSI) and Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL).

Other awardees included Chief Philip Udala through Udala and Rivina FC, and Chief Hon Emeka Egbogota aka Ezeigbo na Japan, for his many sports promotion activities in both Nigeria and Japan.

The event was well attended with state, provincial and national SWAN all duly represented.

The SWAN Chairman Anambra state chapter Mr Tony Oji assured that now that they had started, there was no going back in arresting sports decadence, both at the state and national levels. The Chairman of the SWAN Week 2019 Philip Balepo also echoed the resolve of the association to start making better impact soon.
