Foremost Guber Aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Paul Chukwuma, says rather than being perturbed by the entry of new aspirants into the party ahead of this year’s Guber election, he’s happy that the foundation he laid over the past years in the party in the state has started yielding fruit and attracting many into the party.
It will be recalled that last Tuesday, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for APC, fuelling speculations that some unseen forces were instigating Ukachukwu against Chukwuma.
but addressing newsmen in his country home in Umuleri, Thursday, Chukwuma also said the latest defection was very much welcome and would ease the burden he had borne over the years in carrying the party, just as he expressed happiness that the other aspirants would help him to win the primary election and election proper.
He described political party as a church where people entered and exited at will.
“I’m happy that more people are joining and it indicates that APC is the party to beat. I cleaned up the party and more people are being attracted to it today. It shows that my 24 months’ work of trying to rejig and transform the party was a good work. I commend and welcome my brothers to the party and for feeling the best party is APC.
“My brothers will join me to prepare for the primaries and win the general elections. I don’t see any threat. The more the merrier,” Chukwuma said.
H said he was a foundation member of APC and had been taking care of the party.
“I’m happy to have the college of aspirants increase,” he said, noting that the party had been good to him. He assured of his continued devotion to the party, stressing that though he was sure of winning the primaries, he was aware that he earned the mandate that would be given him.
He expressed happiness that some of the new entrants to the fray were willing to support the winner, even as he conceded that everything depended on God.
“However, all of you know I’m the candidate to beat in this election,” he reiterated.
Chukwuma also said he was not deterred by intimidation and was sure of winning the election and restoring the state to her former glory.
“I will be Governor of Anambra and the people are going to be happy. I won’t be intimidated,” he said in reaction to an alleged report by Sahara Reporters indicting him on a contract he did.
He described the report as false and a poor attempt to witch-hunt him in his sure march to Government House. He also promised to fight those behind what he described as a malicious report
