Idemili North Political Appointees under Governor Willie Obiano, Saturday, 23rd May, paid a solidarity visit to the member representing Idemili North State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Chiekwu.
Intimating the Lawmaker on the essence of the visit, the Chairman of Idemili North Political Appointees Forum and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Projects, Hon. Amb. Jeffrey Ubah, said they were in his house to show support and solidarity, noting that the group had also paid similar visits to all the relevant stakeholders in the council area.
Hon. Ubah explained that the visit was to intimate him on the journey so far and what the group was able to achieve since its formation, stating that they tasked themselves financially and materially in carrying out the activities of the group, even as he pleaded for financial and material support.
He informed the lawmaker that the group recently visited the two Motherless Babies in Umuoji and Ogidi and gave out food items and cash gifts to them to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on the children.
Ubah stated that the coming together of the political appointees under one umbrella would bring about lasting peace in Idemili North, and appealed to the lawmaker to take the group as his own project.
Introducing the visitors to the lawmaker, the Protem Secretary of the group and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Liaison, Dr. Ifeanyi Ike, paid glowing tributes to the legislator, describing him as an unassuming and result oriented politician.
For his part, the former Chairman, Local Government, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Parks and Markets, Hon. Obi Idemobi, expressed satisfaction with what he said the lawmaker had done so far in the State Assembly, noting that he had no regret whatsoever supporting his emergence.
Hon. Idemobi urged him not to relent in his task of churning out quality laws and legislation that would affect the people of Idemili North positively.
Contributing, Hon. Barr. Uche Darlington said there were certain things that needed to be ratified, saying that the issue of who was the leader of the local government must be addressed, adding that there were lots of division and also no unified voice.
He called for unity and togetherness, noting that he was not happy with the way things were moving in the group, stating that he had gone home to re-strategize for the upcoming election.
The legal luminary pleaded with his colleagues not to allow bickering to mar the chances of the group from making a statement in the next election.
Corroborating Hon. Darlington’s statement, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Liaison, Hon. Sir Chudi Onwuachu, stressed the need for unity of purpose and brotherliness, even as he commended the speakers for their thoughtfulness and bold steps in tackling the issues affecting the group.
Commenting, the former Transition Committee Chairman, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Liaison, Hon. Obi Ikpeze, enjoined all to ensure there was peace and progress.
Lending his voice, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Liaison, Hon. Charles Okolo, showered praises on the legislator, urging him to maintain the tempo. He said he benefited immensely from the COVID-19 largesse of the lawmaker.
Receiving his guests, Hon. Arthur Chiekwu thanked the conveners and members of the group for choosing to visit him and also for making out time to visit other stakeholders in the locality, noting that with peace, the group could achieve a lot.
The Umuoji born legislator charged the appointees to embrace peace, emphasizing that collectively the group could achieve its set objective, adding that he was more than happy with the activities of the group.
He thanked the governor for what he said the governor was doing in Anambra State, noting that all hands must be on deck for the group to make any meaningful impact and headway in Idemili North.
The lawmaker, while addressing his guests, assured that he would continue to identify and support his group.
