As part of his 2020 constituency projects, the member representing Njikoka II State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Pete Ibida, has constructed two gigantic boreholes for Ezira Village, Nimo and Akpu Village Abagana, both in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to Hon. Ibida who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, the borehole facility which was sited in front of Ezira Health Centre was constructed to give the people of Ezira a sense of belonging.
Hon. Ibida explained that it was borne out of his passion and desire to improve the living standard of the people and stop them from going to the stream to fetch water, which, he said, may not be healthy for consumption.
Commissioning the borehole, the traditional ruler of Nimo, Igwe Maxi Ike Oliobi, noted that the project had direct bearing on the lives of the People, noting that as human beings, they could not sustain their lives without water.
He commended the lawmaker for putting up what he described as superlative performances within the short period he had stayed in office after his re-election.
For his part, the chairman, Ezira Village, Mr Patrick Egbekpalu, commended the benefactor for his effective representation, adding that he had worked beyond the functions of a state legislator.
Similarly Hon Ibida immediately after the Ezira function moved straight to Akpu Village, Abagana where he handed over another borehole he drilled for the people to the leadership of the community.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Abagana, Igwe Mbamalu Okeke, described it as a true example of the dividends of democracy.
Thanking Hon Ibida, the chairman of the village, Chief Christopher Ozugha, noted that the lawmaker had left his footprints in the sands of time by accomplishing such a project.
