The aspirant for the Anambra State House of Assembly for Awka South Constituency II on the platform of Liberation Movement, Hon. Emmanuel Okeke, has declared his readiness to stand for the actualization of the liberation of Awka South Constituency II.
Hon. Okeke who called for support from his constituency in the forthcoming state assembly elections slated for March 9, promised to ensure that his representation would help realize a prosperous society of virtuous people with opportunities for all to unleash their potentials, excel in their goals and flourish in their enterprises.
The honourable urged the Obizi people to accept, embrace and espouse virtues of equality, meritocracy, integrity, diligence and excellence.
Hon Okeke who said that the corporate existence of Anambra State was under threat as a result of selfish interests of politicians, noted that restructuring of state laws would promote equality and meritocracy at all levels.
In his words ‘Politicians modify public institutions to suit their lifestyle and selfish interest. In turn it becomes a tool to promote political interest. Corporate existence of Anambra State is under serious threat as being witnessed in the Anambra State House of Assembly. It is important to state that corruption and economic insecurity as being witnessed in our state today is an evidence of political conspiracy. Restructuring of the state laws will promote equality and meritocracy at all levels and create an urgent end to the use of transition committee and install regular conduct of local government elections.’
Speaking on the state’s economy, the political aspirant opined that economic freedom required a sound policy framework that created opportunity for all to prosper. He further promised that if elected, he would introduce a new system of taxation called Presumptive Taxation, which would build on simplicity, efficiency and equity, ‘the fundamental hallmarks of a good tax system.’
Hon Okeke further assured the people that his representation would see an end to unemployment and youth restiveness through investment in agro based business, fashion, ICT, and auto based technology. He promised that over 5000 persons must be gainfully employed in his two years in office.
‘Apprenticeship will come on board because their settlement is assured via ContributoryApprenticeship Insurance Scheme [CAIS]’ he said.
Noting that a healthy nation was a wealthy nation, Hon. Okeke promised to strengthen the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIS) laws such that with less than N30 per day, a family of four would enjoy sound medical treatment.
Finally, Hon Okeke declared that the education system must be redesigned to identify and harness the gifts of individuals and promised that his representation would see to its realization.
