Hoodlums Burn Down Anambra Monarch’s Palace

By Ikeugonna Eleke

The palace of the traditional ruler of Isseke Community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Emmanuel Nnabuife, has been reportedly burnt down by hoodlums.

The traditional ruler who confirmed the arson, lamented that the entire palace was burnt down by the unidentified hoodlums.

In a telephone conversation with journalists, the monarch who resides in Awka; apparently because of the security situation of his domain, said he had no problem with anyone in his community to warrant such an attack on him.

‘It is true that my palace was burnt down by these boys and I have lost everything that I laboured all my life to achieve and as it is now, I am homeless.

‘Everything was razed down, but I thank God that no life was lost and nobody was harmed by those boys, and this is the way it is in my town Isseke,’ he said.

Isseke is a boarder community which shares boundaries with Imo State, a state that has been known to be the hotbed of criminal gunmen.

The community is in Ihiala, another hotbed of gunmen’s attack in Anambra State. Most traditional rulers of communities in the local government area live outside their domains because of insecurity.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has confirmed the incident.

The CP who spoke on the telephone said the situation in the area had been brought under control and that personnel of the command had been sent on the trail of the attackers. He said investigations were on.
