The member representing Aguata I State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Dr. Carter Dike Nnamdi Umeh, recently at Umuchu Civic Centre enrolled over one hundred of fifty constituents into Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) and also paid the health insurance premium for them to enjoy all the health packages offered by the Agency.
Addressing the beneficiaries at the venue of the registration exercise, he enjoined the constituents to always pay attention to their health by visiting hospitals regularly; not just when they felt unwell.
Hon Cater who is the Chairman, House Committee on Health, reiterated his commitment towards repositioning the constituency and pleaded with others who could not participate in the first phase of the health intervention programme to be patient, assuring that more people would be captured soon.
For his part, the Executive Secretary of ASHIA and the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Health, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, who spoke on the health packages offered by the scheme, stressed the need for the beneficiaries to always reach ASHIA through the 24-hour call centre number at the back side of their ID cards for any likely challenges when accessing care from the ASHIA accredited health providers across the state.
Dr. Onyemaechi commended Dr. Umeh for his quality representation for his people and praised Gov Willie Obiano for his visionary leadership in instituting the scheme as a legacy project, saying that Ndi Anambra would forever be grateful to the governor.
One of the beneficiaries of the Health Scheme who could not hold back her joy, described Dr Carter as a politician with a humane heart.
‘I could not believe myself when I got a call from Hon Carter telling me that he would enroll me into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency.
‘I could not believe that finally I can go to a hospital to take medications free of charge. God will continue to bless Hon Carter and his household for me,’ she prayed.
