Holy Queen Secondary School, Aguluzigbo, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, was a beehive of activities on Friday, 6th February, 2026, as the citadel of learning held the Grand Finale of the Inter-House Sports Competition and the blessing of the Ultra-Modern digital library and laboratories.
Blessing the facilities situated inside the school premises, Bishop Ezeokafor extolled the institution for what he described as the developmental strides recorded so far in the school, saying that the Mother Church was working assiduously to produce future adults who would be properly trained in both mind and character.
Bishop Ezeokafor, before commissioning the facilities, stressed the importance of proper child-upbringing, quality education, sports, and recreation, emphasizing that regular exercise brought about healthy living.
‘These facilities will aid our continued search for truth and the face of God at all times. These facilities will not only help to shape these children’s minds but will also prepare them adequately for the future.
‘If you don’t have a library and laboratories, the students will never believe in you. We thank the donors and contributors. I call on the students to make adequate use of the facilities, study hard and pass their exams, make good grades, and be useful to themselves. We are equipping Angel Gabriel, Okpuno, and we know what’s involved. We want, after we exit the scene, that there will be adequate replacements. We don’t want to leave a vacuum.
‘They will come up, and they will take over. Our joy is that we are grooming useful and dedicated human beings who will be ready both in character and learning. These facilities will help to educate our children,’ he said.
The Local Ordinary warned against abuse of cellphones, exhorting the students and pupils to form the habit of visiting the libraries and imbibing modern and digital knowledge, regretting that many teens now devoted more time to their phones rather than focusing on their studies.
He said that good character should be the utmost priority, stating that the impact mission schools had made in the life of those who had passed through it could not be overemphasized.
Thanking the Bishop, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Callistus Nworgu, the Manager of the school, and Rev. Fr Victor Ejie, showered praises on the Chief Shepherd of Awka Diocese for painstakingly coming around to identify with them and help them with his fatherly admonition and words of encouragement.
The duo commended the donors and patrons of various houses, namely Senator Sir Victor Umeh (Red House); Jerome Ezenwobi family (Yellow); Okekeocha Family (Blue); Sir Uche Alado (Sky-blue); Arc. Uche Anazodo (Pink) and Mr. Amobi Valentine Izuchukwu (Purple).
The Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe; the traditional ruler of Aguluzigbo, HRH Igwe Rufus U. Iloduba; the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Daniel Olisakwe; the President General of Aguluzigbo, Mr. Samuel Ndubuisi Amaefuna; the Principal of the school, Mr Emmanuel Anadebe; and the P.T.A. Chairman, Hon. Ebere Anaekwe, among others, applauded the Bishop and the school’s Management for what they had been able to achieve in the school and in the Diocese at large.
March past, track and field events by various houses, cultural displays, homage to the Bishop, announcement of results, group photographs interactions, appreciation, and eulogies formed the highpoints of the event.
