Halt Guber Campaigns in Anambra, CLO urges politicians

…Demands implementation of End SARS report by Soludo

By Jude Atupulazi

The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State Chapter, has called the political class in the state to stop forthwith any campaign for the 2025 Governorship Race as such campaign amounts to distraction for the incumbent governor to provide the state with good governance.

The chairman of the human and pro-democracy group, Comrade Vincent Ezekweme, told newsmen in Onitsha that it was too early in the day to begin campaigns for the 2025 Governorship Race in the state that will hold in late 2025.

He advised the politicians of the various political parties in the state that commencing campaigns now was both unwise and a misplacement of priority.

Comrade Ezekweme therefore warned the state’s political gladiators to rein in their supporters in order not to overheat the polity.

‘They should refrain from character assassination, casting unsubstantiated aspersions on perceived political enemies, as well as avoiding the pull him down syndrome,’ Ezekweme stated.

He called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his supporters, as well as other politicians in the state, to focus on addressing the problem of insecurity bedevelling the state, infrastructural decay and aim at providing democracy dividend to the citizens.

The CLO boss asked Governor Soludo to immediately implement the recommendations of the EndSARs Panel Report chaired by Hon. Justice Veronica Ngozi Umeh, to assuage the sufferings and agonies of the victims and their families.

He also said the outstanding honorarium for the chairman and members of the panel should be equally paid immediately.

‘We also call for forensic investigation into the discovery of more than 300 missing persons in Anambra State by the Truth, Justice, and Peace Commission, headed by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu,’ said the rights group.
