Rotary Club of District 9142 have offered free health services to indigent residents of Awka Metropolis to mark the 2024 Rotary Family Health Days in the area.

The Free Medical Outreach, which took place on 26th October 2024, at Umuogbunu Village Hall, Awka, included malaria screening and treatment, HIV testing and counselling, Vitamin A administration, distribution of insecticide treated mosquito nets, eye test, hypertension screening, among others.

The President, Rotary Club of Awka Central, Rotarian Ekene Agubata, said the essence of the outreach was to help the indigent access needed quality medical care, advice and checks for health living.

‘After this exercise, we are still going to reach out to them to check in on how they are faring and what they will want Rotary to do for them,’ Rotarian Agubata said.

Agubata disclosed to newsmen that similar free medical outreach was presently going on simultaneously across the entire District of Rotary Club, South East Nigeria.

He explained that the Rotary Family Health Days started on the 24th with ”End Polio Walk” and other activities that spanned across different locations in Anambra State.

The Rotary President advised those who missed the free health services to exercise patience and watch out for another, assuring that there would be subsequent exercises as a free medical outreach had been a regular activity in Rotary Club.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Ms Onyinye Nwobu, Mr Nnamdi, among others, who spoke with newsmen, thanked the Rotary Club for the kind gesture, praying God to reward the club.
