As Anambra State gears towards the 2021 governorship election, an election already predicted to be one of the toughest, a group known as Greater Anambra Forum; otherwise called GAFORUM, has been in the vanguard of those rooting for the sustenance of the zoning formula in the state.
Led by Engr Fabian Ozoigbo, a seasoned politician, the group consists of many other seasoned and tested politicians of the past and present. They have been insisting that not only should the next governor of the state emerge from the SOUTH, whoever should be chosen must be home grown in order for the state to be guaranteed to have a governor that knows the terrain and understands the people and the political dynamics of the state.
In furtherance of their clamour for such, GAFORUM recently embarked on another round of visits to individuals, groups and organizations across the state. They were well received at each port of call.
Those visited include the Labour Party; All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA; Sabatharians; the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev Valerian Okeke; the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN; the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN; the Organization of African Independent Churches, OAIC; the People’s Democratic Party, PDP; and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
At every point, GAFORUM preached the gospel of zoning and made a case for Anambra South to take its turn.
