In this month of August, we shall be preparing dishes with beef. And so this week, we will be learning how to prepare MEATBALL.

This is one recipe I’ve been longing to try for a while now. The first time I tried it, it didn’t come out well and so I decided to try it again and this time, it was a bomb.

Let me introduce you to the ingredients:

RECIPE

½ cup of dry breadcrumbs
½ cup of milk
1 large egg
2 teaspoon salt
Black pepper
1kg ground beef
½ cup of finely chopped onion
I garlic clove, minced

PROCEDURE

REMEMBER to WASH YOURS HANDS BEFORE TOUCHING ANYTHING in the KITCHEN.
Place the breadcrumbs in a bowl, pour the milk, and stir to combine. Set aside while preparing the rest of the meatball mixture. (The bread crumbs will absorb the milk and become soggy).
Next, whisk the egg in a large bowl and add in your salt and a generous quantity of black pepper, whisk again to combine. Add the meat to the egg mixture; use your hands to thoroughly mix the egg mixture into the ground meat.

Add the onions, garlic, and the soaked breadcrumbs. Mix them thoroughly into the meat with your fingers. Try not to over work the meat; pinch the meat between your fingers rather than kneading.

Pinch off a piece of the meat mixture and gently roll between your hands to form meatball, continue same process until all the meat is used, place the meatballs on a baking sheet so that they are not touching.

Roast the balls for 20-30mins. The meat balls are done when the outsides are brown.
Serve with jollof, fried and coconut rice.

Happy new month to you all.
