Faithspiration Initiative Spreads Love to Inmates at Onitsha Correctional Centre on Valentine's Day

Faithspiration Initiative, a well-known charity and Christian organization, marked this year’s Valentine’s Day with inmates at Onitsha Correctional Centr, bringing them hope, joy, and essential supplies.

Barely a month after its life-changing outreach in Awka-Etiti, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, the group, led by its founder, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, continued its mission of evangelism through both spiritual and material support.

Speaking at the event, Fr. Adimike introduced Faithspiration Initiative as a Christian family dedicated to sharing God’s love. He emphasized that Valentine’s Day coincided with the feast of Saints Cyril, Methodius, and Valentine, with St. Valentine standing out for his life of love and sacrifice.

‘We are here because of you. You are part of us. Your time in this correctional centre is temporary. It doesn’t mean God has abandoned you. He loves and cares for you, and there is still hope,’ Fr. Adimike encouraged the inmates. He prayed for their speedy release and urged them to remain steadfast in faith.

He also appreciated the correctional centre’s management, particularly the Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Okpalugo, and their spiritual mother, Very Rev. Sis. Bennett Ezeokoli, for granting Faithspiration Initiative access to the inmates.

In response, Fr. Okpalugo expressed gratitude to Faithspiration Initiative, stating that their act of kindness exemplified Christ’s teachings on love and compassion. He praised Fr. Adimike for his dedication to uplifting prisoners and prayed for God’s continued blessings on the organization.

The event was a moment of joy for the inmates, who danced and sang along to gospel music performed by renowned singer, Chioma Ezefete. Comedian, Igwe White, also entertained them with humour.

As part of the outreach, Faithspiration Initiative donated meals, tissue paper, detergents, laundry soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and bags of pure water, among other essentials.

The Valentine’s Day visit left a lasting impact, reinforcing the message that even behind bars, love, faith, and hope remain ever-present.
