Ex-lawmaker, Nwokoye, Rejoins APGA, Rallies Support for Soludo

Awka North Local Government Area Headquarters, Achalla, was a beehive of activities on Saturday, 31st May, as the 7th Assembly Member representing Awka North State Constituency, Hon. John Nwokoye, rejoined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Receiving the erstwhile legislator who hitherto was a member of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), back to the party, the State Chairman of APGA, High Chief Barr. Ifeatu Obi Okoye, described Hon Nwokoye as a team player, as well as a courageous personality, saying that Awka North APGA had been united under Gov Chukwuma Soludo, adding that the 7th Assembly Member was determined to advance Awka North beyond the November 8th, 2025 Gubernatorial Election in the state.

The APGA Anambra State boss, while receiving the decampee, presented APGA’s uniform to him and his team. ‘The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has captured the People of Achalla and Awka North at large. Hon. Nwokoye is a mobilizer and will sell the Solution Message to the grassroots.

‘Today’s defection explained the flexibility of a democratic system under constitutional democracy which enables freedom of association. Awka North APGA is now bigger, stronger, and more viable to deliver Prof Soludo effortlessly on November 8th, 2025,’ Obi Okoye stated.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who thronged the venue, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by his Chief of staff, Chief Earnest Ezeajughi, commended Hon Nwokoye for what he described as his bold step and courage to re-unite with his family, even as he urged him and his team to see themselves as one united family and shun divisive statements and tendencies. He added that Governor Soludo would do the needful to balance all political equations for the benefit of party members and their leaders.

‘Hon John Nwokoye is a selfless person, a team player, firm, and pragmatic. His commitment to selfless service cannot be over emphasized.

‘The majority of the Awka North People are happy about the recent political developments in the state, and as loyalists to the party and the Governor, the entire political family will rally round him for the progress of our great party, APGA,’ he concluded.

Speaking shortly after being received back to the party, Hon Nwokoye, a seasoned grassroots politician, commended the Governor for his good work in the state, especially on road infrastructure, stating that the Governor had opened up and connected the entire Awka North, promising to mobilize support for him come November 8th.

Some of those who attended the event included Royal father of the day, His Royal Majesty Igwe Ositadimma Sunny Nwokedi, and his cabinet members; the Deputy Speaker of Anambra State 8th Assembly, Hon Chuma Pius Okoye; Hon Tony Collins Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs; Hon Dr Engr. Felix Odimegwu, Commissioner for Environment; Hon Patrick Aghamba, Commissioner for Youths; the Mayor of Idemili North, Hon Stanley Nkwoka; among others.
