The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Environment has charged the contractor rehabilitating the Uruagu Nnewi Erosion Site to expedite action on the project.
The Committee made the call when they visited the Erosion Site as part of their oversight responsibility

Fides reports that when the Committee visited the site, men of the firm handling the project were seen discharging their duty as materials were readily at their disposal.
The Committee inspected the erosion site which had caved in residential buildings and also threatening to cave in other buildings very close to it and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far.

They also inspected drainage being constructed ianside the erosion site for channelling of flood to its base.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the project site, the Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Hon Edward Ibuzo, commended the firm for working according to specification; and Governor Willie Obiano for mobilizing them to site.
He however asked the firm to safeguard the work it has already done to prevent it from being washed away by the rains.

For his part, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Hon Lawrence Ezeudu, announced that the Committee would visit all the erosion sites in the state where work was ongoing to ascertain if the contractors handling them worked according to specifications, adding that they would not hesitate to expose construction firms doing shoddy jobs in the state.

The Project Manager, Mr. Ferdinand Clem, said they were working hard to complete the project before the rainy season set in and appreciated the community for making their work easy by cooperating with them.
