Enugwu Ukwu Killings Police Say it will Remain Neutral but Ready to Listen

By Jude Atupulazi

The Anambra Police Command says it will adopt the option of neutrality in the communal feud between two communities in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State, Enugwu Ukwu and Nawfia, in which four people were allegedly killed at a disputed land between the two communities. While three of the dead were from Enugwu Ukwu, one was from Agu Ukwu Nri, also a neighbouring town.

In a press statement signed by the image maker of the Anambra State Police Command, Tuesday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police said it intercepted a publication which used the candidate of a political party and the Anambra State Commissioner of Police’s official portrait for news publications on the incident at Isionye Land on Monday, September 9, that resulted in the murder of those persons and left some injured.

The statement said, ”The Command observes with great dismay what the publishers and the candidate intend to achieve with such and states that the Commissioner of Police remains neutral and ready to listen to everyone and anyone; as such heinous crime shall not be swept under the carpet and the perpetrators must be arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.

”The CP, while noting that the police are already working with some information obtained from the scene, urges members of the public to provide the police with credible and useful information that will lead to the apprehension of all persons involved in the barbaric act”.
