. . . Launches 2019 YES

The Anambra State Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, in partnership with the UNIZIK Business School, has launched the 2019 Youths Entrepreneurship Start-Up (YES) Programme, with a view to exposing more youths to viable business plans to help them in becoming employers of labour.

Announcing the YES Programme at a media briefing in Awka, The state Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo, said the ministry had a mandate to ensure that every Anambra youth had at least one skill or the other, to make them more responsible.

The launch of the YES Programme was an offshoot of the recent visit by the Ministry to the institution, aimed at cementing the new partnership between the two on business development programme in line with the state government’s directive to ministries to embark on strategic programmes and projects that would benefit the masses.

Commissioner Mbanefo, who was accompanied by the Director, UNIZIK Business School, Professor Au Nonyelu; and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Louisa Ezeanya, among others, explained that the Ministry had previously trained thousands of youths in various skills including ICT, agric product processing, shoe making, among others.

He explained that the business programme would, on annual basis, create three hundred youths as employers of labour, urging them to visit www.anambrayouths.ng to register for the training programme that he said, would last for two weeks.

He solicited for financial assistance from well-meaning Anambrarians and corporate organizations to be able to empower successful participants.

Contributing, the Director of UNIZIK Business School, Professor Nonyelu, commended the State Government for using the Ministry and her various programmes to address youth unemployment.

He said UNIZIK Business School was ever ready to enter into any partnership aimed at engaging the youths to be more responsible in society.

Online Application for the Youth Entrepreneurship Start-Up programme which started on 15th November, 2019, would end on the fifteenth of January 2020, followed by the selection of three hundred applicants that would be trained and certified.

Afterwards, one hundred participants with outstanding business plans would be empowered, monitored and mentored for one year.
