A human development group, Dengox Trust Foundation under the supervision of Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union, ECDU, has assured to provide basic implementation to guarantee the educational development of its indigenes. This begins with provision of JAMB/UTME forms for selected and interested students, with the assurance of a scholarship scheme to all who would be able to get good grades and secure admission to any federal or state institution in the country.
The Foundation organized an event recently at the Enugwu Ukwu Civic Center, Enu Orji village, on the 26 January 2019, for the presentation and registration of jamb forms to selected indigenes interested in the scheme.
The event attracted Youths, community leaders and guardians who were astonished at the level of sacrifices the community leaders as well as well-meaning individuals had made to ensure the progress of youths and the community at large.
Presenting the forms to the students on behalf of the sponsor, Chief Dennis Anekwe, the President General of the community, Hon. Boni Ozonkwoku, announced that the initiative was the second in its edition of which he noted started in 2018,in a bid to propel youths to develop interest in educational development.
He also said that the Enugwu-Ukwu Community Development Union has set plans to commence a two-month intensive extra moral lesson to engage the students in Jamb curriculum focused tutorials. He furthermore urged them to study hard so as to gain the scholarship promised.
Hon. Ozonkwoku revealed that almost a hundred students were selected from the eighteen villages that made up Enugwu-Ukwu, and that more of such opportunities would be made available to indigenes as the year unfolds.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Fides in an interview, included Veronica Nwosu from Urukpeleke community and Amarachi Silver Nwaogbo from St. Theresas Secondary School, Enugwu-Ukwu, said it was a rare opportunity to be provided which such benefits. They appreciated the donor and pledged to study hard in preparation for the forthcoming exams.
