No fewer than 36 less privileged members of Catholic Women’s Organization (C.W.O), Amawbia Deanery, were recently feted with various gift items during the 2018 Deanery C.W.O’s Annual Christmas Celebration for the needy.
Speaking at the event which was held at the celebration which was held at St Felix’s Catholic Church, Nise, Awka South L.G.A, Anambra State on December 19, 2018, the Organiser, C.W.O, Amawbia Deanery, Queen Lady Ngozi Ekwunife, thanked God for sustaining the event which she started for the Deanery in December 2013.
She thanked God that the deanery had been able to through the annual event extended the joy of Christmas to help needy members, who were selected three each from the 12 parishes of Amawbia Catholic Deanery.
The C.W.O also at the annual event, celebrated Christmas for all the priests working in the deanery and her other members.
Queen Lady Ekwunife commended all who donated in supports of the annual event, among who were Senator Victor Umeh, OFR, the C.W.O Amawbia Deanery executive members who gave their freewill donations as well as raised funds for that through raffles, and others people of goodwill.
Ekwunife thanked God for his grace, sustenance and love on her and the deanery for the six years she served as the Organiser of C.W.O, Amawbia Deanery, and thanked the Catholic bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor for the opportunity gave her to serve God and the Church in that capacity.
The out-going organiser commended her family, the dean of Amawbia Deanery, Rev Fr Val Ofomata; the deanery C.W.O Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Christian Okafor; priests working in the deanery and the entire members of C.W.O, Amawbia Deanery for their supports and encouragement. She noted that the numerous successes she recorded as the organiser which made Amawbia Deanery the best, were due to the supports of the deanery executive members and the parish executive members, especially the presidents that stood behind her.
Queen Lady Ekwunife urged the entire C.W.O of Amawbia Deanery to give her successor, Lady Tina Obiechina, LSM, the same support the gave her.
Earlier when he led in the concelebrated Holy Mass to mark the event, the dean, Amawbia Deanery, Rev. Fr. Val Ofomata, commended the deanery C.W.O for being the only deanery that has been able to organize and sustain such unique love radiating event.
Among the gift items given out to the beneficiaries were bags of rice, gallons of vegetable oil, packets of seasoning cubes, tins of tomatoes and pieces of wrappers.
