The Finals of the 2020 National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) Inter CDS football competition sponsored by Pastor Obi Ogbo of Garden of Grace Church, Awka, took place last week Friday February, 21, 2020, at the Awka Old Stadium, having Culture and Tourism CDS group lift the trophy.
The competition which had a total of eight teams registered for the tournament had Culture and Tourism CDS group trash Servicom CDS group by three goals to nil.
Fides gathered from the sponsor of the competition Pastor Ogbo that the essence of the tournament was to bring corps members together, to enjoy and celebrate unity irrespective of tribe, religion and background.
‘I am delighted that the competition from start to the end has been a successful one, no fights or misunderstanding which was our major aim.
‘I am also glad that corps members participated actively in the games and they had time to express love to each other in the spirit of oneness and patriotism,’ Ogbo said.
Speaking to Fides the Director of Sports, Mr Edomwandagbon Osahon noted that this was not the first edition of the competition as the sponsor had pledged to continue to organize events that would bring corps members together so as to achieve one of the objectives of the Scheme which was to promote unity.
Mr Osason also noted that prizes, awards and trophies would be presented to deserving teams on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Garden of Grace Church, Regina Caeli Junction, Awka, Anambra State.
