Wonders shall never cease. This aptly describes how a crippled 600 level Biochemistry student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka campus joined the league of final year physically challenged persons out of passion for education, report Alexander Johnson Adejoh and Adejumoke Alebiosu
The cripple, Ismail Bala, who told Fides that his aspirations of getting to the peak of his academic career was borne out of passion to someday become a professor. ‘I don’t have a limit to education; I am going to study to the end of my life.’ He said
When asked if he had sponsors, he said, ‘I don’t have any sponsor, I have been begging, and the money I make from begging is what I use to pay my school fees and take care of every other expense that pertains to my education, nobody is sponsoring me because I come from a poor background.’
Talking about his academic performance, he noted that begging had affected his education, adding that it was not easy going in search of money through begging and still attend to his studies. ‘This has really affected my GP and I am not happy about it,’ poor Ismail cried.
‘I know the reason for this is because I don’t have enough time for personal studies, by the time I return home after begging, I have little time for studies. I have not been doing well enough because I lack sponsors,’ he concluded.
