COVID 19: Onitsha North Schools Install Safety Measures

Teachers and administrative Staff in Schools in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State have commenced measures, aimed at ensuring safety of students when they resume classes on the first of next month.

This followed government directives to schools to officially open on January eighteenth but to commence classes on February first.

The measures are to ensure that COVID-19 protocols are effectively provided ahead of commencement of classes.

The schools visited include Saint Charles’ College Onitsha, Regina Pacis Model Secondary School and Ado Girls Secondary School.

At Saint Charles’ College, it was observed that the school administrative Staff and teachers had a meeting with the Principal, Reverend Father Emma Emenu on how they should handle COVID-19 preventive measures.

The Principal said that the school is seriously preparing, by ensuring that their COVID-19 Taskforce Team will be ready for students’ resumption.

The cleaning of the environment is on in the school, while buckets, sanitizers and infrared thermometers will be placed at strategic locations to check visitors before they can access the premises.

Also in separate interviews the Principal of Regina Pacis Model Secondary School Reverend Father Pascal Okonkwo and that of Ado Girls Secondary School, Mrs. Tina Agubisi said that schools had just re-opened for the teachers as every necessary COVID-19 preventive measures must be in place before the students resume.

Reverend Father Okonkwo of Regina Pacis pleaded that the sensitization should continue for children to know that COVID-19 is real.
