Coalition for Good Governance Inaugurates Exco in Awka

A 28-member Anambra State Executive members of the Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) has been inaugurated in Awka, Anambra State capital, with a charge to live up to expectations.

Speaking before the inauguration of the excos, Fellow Sam Eke, DG of CCG, warned about the consequences of not measuring up to expectations, expressing dismay with the penchant of people to aspire for leadership when they knew they were not going to be committed. He asked anyone not sure of performing or working with dedication to opt out before the inauguration took place.

For his part, Engr Okechukwu Chikwendu charged the members to be Obidient at the national level before he was joined by Fellow Eke to perform the inauguration.

The 28-member state exco was led by Chief Joseph Obidigwe, while 21 LG coordinators, were also inaugurated.

Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated state exco, the State Chairman, Joseph Obidigwe, assured the National and Zonal leaders of the members’ readiness to live up to expectations and urged his fellow members to brace up for serious work. He reminded them of their mission to interrogate governance.

Earlier, while delivering an address, Obidigwe said CCG was taking off in Anambra and other states that day and described the event as a big one.

The Zonal Chairman, Chief Dr Japhet Ebelechukwu, in his remarks, said Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State was aware of the inauguration and that it was peopled by all Anambrarians devoid of party affiliation.

He said they were not there for politics but for inauguration and good of the people of the state, noting that all the Southeast Governors were represented.

The Anambra State Secretary, Hon Ikechukwu Nwachukwu, in his address, said the inauguration of the excos of CCG was the first in the South East and said the aspirations of the national leadership would be met in the state.

This was even as he disclosed that the group was formed to enthrone good governance in the face of the poor leadership presently experienced in the country. Nwachukwu called for cohesion, commitment and logistics support at all levels to achieve the mission of the coalition.

Igwe Gibson Nwosu, Traditional Ruler of Awka, represented by his palace secretary, prayed for the success of the coalition.

Addressing the audience, Moghalu expressed happiness with the members, reminding them that seeing them reaffirmed his belief that they were on the right track. Expressed his belief that God would make a way for the coalition and for his ambition. Said the demand for equity and good governance was right and proper. Said Anambra wasn’t where it should be, regretting that Anambra was only state in the world where tax enforcement was done with pestles, even as he decried the insecurity in the state which he said was affecting everyone and damaging the economy.

“The govt is doing its best but not enough. It needs to be helped and the only way to help it is to ask it to pack and go. Take the Nov 8 election as serious business. As you think about me think about Peter Obi because that’s the platform he wants to use to become president of Nigeria,” Moghalu charged the cheering audience.

He expressed his total support for the coalition.

Attendees: George Moghalu, Sam Eke, Special Guest of Honour, stressed the need for team work, with every member doing their bit. Described Anambra as an important state, with Nat Chairman of CGG, Hon Engr Okechukwu Chikwendu, who expressed delight at the turn out and assured that the coalition was formed to succeed and would enthrone better governance.
