The Catholic Men Organization (CMO) had another round of Leadership training with the theme, ‘That Man is You (Becoming a Man After God’s Own Heart). The section discussed the Price of a Failed Leadership and identified various problems encountered by leaders and how it could be addressed.
Using the TMIY manual, the trainer who is also the Chaplain of CMO, Rev. Fr. Jerome Okafor, identified how some of our worldly activities have caused more damage to the family and to society. He illustrated how media sexuality has affected the family and society. He explained how infidelity, sexual abuse and violence have increased because of so many media contents like the cartoons that have so many sexual and violent contents.
The TMIY video illustrated the recent crimes and other sexuality themes like high rate of abortions, high rate violent crimes, high rate of divorce and its consequences on the worship of God and on the people.
Buttressing his views on the TMIY, the CMO Chairman of St. Patrick’s Mbaukwu, Hon. Innocent Chuba Nwafor, added that the increase in materialism has led to a decrease in Religious activities like the formation of seminarians and priests. This has also led to a decrease in Mass attendance which has resulted to so many crimes and conflicts in society. He added that CMO Leaders found any act that is not consistent with the CMO laws should resign from their positions.
Also contributing to the training, Emeka Obiano, confessed that the training session has helped so many men and will help them in their marriages. He said the training sessions, hopefully, will make non members to become members of CMO. He said that the society will be better if men stop practicing adulterous acts and become loyal to their wives.
Iyke Eze Vincent, from Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, Nise, listed out so many abnormalities in CMO and in the family. He encouraged fathers to be very observant about the characters and actions of their children.
Peter Onwurah from SS John & Paul, Awka, charged men to be convinced first about their faith. He advised them to separate spirituality from their political positions and realities.
According to him, some CMO members are spiritual when in position but once they leave the position, they go into negative lifestyles.
Another contributor, Anthony Ezeani from Madonna Parish, Agulu, concurred that the media has influenced families and marriages. He said that some wives and husbands go private with their phones, thereby causing problems in their families. He said that men should take responsibility of the movies their children watch. He added that this will help safeguard the children and their activities. He advised parents to buy phones for their children at the right time and not when they don’t need it.
It should be recalled that two weeks prios, the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) held her first leadership training session that exposed them into the issues surrounding leadership.
