The Director, Fides School of Theology and Evangelization, Catholic Diocese of Awka, Rev Fr Dr Celestine Muonwe, has advised Christians to use the period of Christmas to sanctify their lives for Jesus Christ, who is the reason for the celebration, to come in.
The Director who was speaking with the press recently in Awka, reminded Christians that self-sanctification of life in preparation for the coming of Christ, as well as steadfast faithfulness and obedience to God, remained paramount and should be their priority in the yuletide.
The director said neo-paganism practice nowadays was a modern phenomenon, which, he stated, had constituted a great obstacle to Christianity, resulting in downfall in faith.
He blamed the cause of the phenomenon and mad pursuit for acquisition of material things prevalent among today’s youths on greed, bad economy and inadequate employment opportunities.
The cleric expressed belief that if people began to study the Bible, and economic situation in society made to be favourable, neo-paganism and Yahoo-plus syndrome would be a thing of the past.
