The member representing Idemili North State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Arthur Chiekwu, recently, at Old Motor Car Parts Market, Ugwuagba, Obosi, otherwise known as Mgbuka Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, commissioned a borehole he constructed.
Hon. Chiekwu also commissioned another borehole the same day at Anogu Village, Umuoji as part of his 2020 constituency project.
Commissioning the project at Mgbuka Obosi and Anogu Village, Umuoji, Hon. Chiekwu said it was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to the traders and the people of Umuoji. He noted that he took it upon himself to ensure he delivered the project within one year, even as he promised to handover a gigantic generating set to Mgbuka Obosi traders for the powering of the borehole.
Hon. Chiekwu who is the Chairman, House Committee on Lands Survey and Physical Planning Board, expressed gratitude to the traders and market leadership for voting massively for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as well as for ensuring that he emerged victorious during the election, promising to continue remembering them while including their needs in his legislative duties.
He assured that he would move a motion at the State Assembly to urge the governor to construct the roads in the market.
Appreciating the legislator, the Chairman of the market, Ogbuefi Ezeobodo Samuel Okechukwu, said no representative had done anything in the market except Hon. Chiekwu.
Ogbuefi expressed happiness at witnessing the construction of a borehole at the market under his leadership, noting that he knew that Chiekwu would deliver and never doubted his capacity to offer quality representation.
The Chairman stated that they would vote overwhelmingly for APGA in subsequent elections.
For his part, the former chairman of Idemili North Local Government and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Markets, Hon. Obi Idemobi, commended the lawmaker for reaching out to his constituents, especially the traders.
Hon. Idemobi who is the former Chairman of the market, urged them to maintain and protect the project and appealed to them to guard the project jealously.
The Secretary of the Board, Hon. Agueze Amaechi, extolled Chiekwu for distinguishing himself and said he deserved to be appreciated.
Addressing the traders, the APGA Chairman in Idemili North, Hon. Kentus Onwurah, stated that the legislator had done well within one year in office and offered palliatives to the people of Idemili North recently as a way of cushioning the effects of COVID-19 on them.
Chief Onwurah thanked the people of Umuoji and Mgbuka Obosi traders for their support, noting that the lawmaker would attract roads and other basic amenities to the market and to all the towns in Idemili North State Constituency.
Contributing, the Director General of Chiekwu Campaign Organization, Hon. Paul Ejiofor, said no lawmaker had ever done what Hon. Chiekwu had done for the people of Idemili North since the creation of the local government.
