CHARACTER IS BADLY MISSING AT ANAMBRA GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

Poem Bemoans

Any honest observer would readily admit that governance of Anambra State under Prof. Charles Soludo falls far below expectation in key areas of governance, especially security and quality service delivery. For context, it is sad to note that roads constructed by certain previous governments nearly 20 years ago still stand strong, but some of the ones Gov. Soludo did few months ago were recently washed away by rain.

The root cause of this obvious failure is character flaw! Our professor-governor appears to be more engrossed with how to castigate, diminish and upset friends and foes than in the real act of governance. What kind of governor has time to write damaging letters against his own kinsman who is not even competing with him and for no reason whatsoever? Such cantankerous pettiness is indeed a huge character flaw that will not go away anytime soon!

According to Abraham Lincoln, famous American president, “nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power”. Power has indeed exposed Prof. Soludo’s true colour. Instead of giving his state the best of his knowledge and experience, he has rather used same to oppress and intimidate with cult-like security outfit, press cut throat/multiple taxation on the citizenry and unnecessarily heat up the polity.

In sharp contrast, we have a man with a heart of gold, an amiable, caring and compassionate man; a man with wealth of experience in human capital management and development. That man is the Labour Party guber candidate, Dr George Moghalu. A scandal-free candidate, who conducts himself with maturity and candour. Moghalu will focus fully on the job without digressing to engage in unnecessary and belittling exchanges and banters.

Dr Moghalu has been tested with power; a federal power as the MD of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and there was no complaint from any quarters. Are we going to lose this wonderful opportunity to change the character at Agu Awka on the delusional altar of ‘Nkea bu nke anyi’? Ndi Anambra are so intelligent and so wise to allow such error happen a second time. Come November 8, we shall change the character of the man at Agu Awka for good!
