. . To hold another training for 3 Regions August 4 at Ekwulobia

The Awka Diocesan Catholic Men Organization (ADCMO) held a day leadership training session for three regions Last week Sunday, 28th July 2019 at St. Matthew’s Amawbia. The three regions are: Awka, Adazi & Nimo Regions while the three regions that will receive the leadership training by August 4, 2019 are Akpo, Achina & Ekwulobia Regions.
It was a training session for members of CMO to talk about their experiences as executive members, share their challenges and proffer likely solutions to them. It was an interactive training session with some CMO members in attendance, having the theme & booklet guide titled, “The Man in You (TMIY)
At the training session, the trainer who is also the Chaplain of CMO, Rev. Fr. Jerome Okafor, explained to them how they could be men after God’s own heart. He gave them tips on how they should model their lifestyles in carrying out their duties. Using the Ten Commandments in the bible, Fr. Jerome told them that if they follow God’s commandments, they have no course to fall into the trap of satan.
Fr Jerome reminded them that it was the work of God they were doing and, therefore, they should carry out their duties with more dedication. The training was mainly centered on addressing the pressures and temptations men face in modern culture. He linked 10 popular cultures with the 10 commandments and told them to examine their conscience on how they could embrace God’s love and peace.
In reaction, the CMO Diocesan President, Vitus Uzoh, lamented that the leadership exhibited by some members are poor. He complained on how leaders do not disseminate and share information to their subordinates. He observed that most leaders were more interested in their personal gains rather than collective gain, adding that it had created problems in the parishes. He encouraged all members to purge themselves and cleanse themselves from every evil act.
Also speaking, Emeka Obiano from St Joseph’s Parish, Agulu, observed that men and young boys no longer came to church. He suggested a follow up strategy for the Catholic men; adding that some men last received communion since their wedding Mass. He also suggested that things of the faith should not only be discussed in the church since people no longer come to church; but it should be discussed in other social and public functions like burials and meetings where some nonchurch goers are found.
Also, Sir IK Nwugwa of St. Edwards Parish, Amawbia, narrated his experiences with some CMO members and executives who still worship idols. He said that some members prefer to do open donation so that they will be praised but refuse to donate to the organization. He added that most members mix hypocrisy with their faith in God. He sought for reformation of the Catholic Men Organization; adding that its through the men that the church can also be reformed.
