Bishop Okoye, Innoson, VC Unizik, Unveil Olivia Tourist Lodge in Otuocha

By Jude Atupulazi

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye; the MD of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma; the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Charles Esimone; alongside others, were on the ground at Otuocha in Anambra East on Saturday, March 30, 2024, to unveil a tourist lodge constructed in Otuocha designed to accelerate the ease of doing business in the area.

The 21-room Olivia Tourist Lodge is designed to cater to the influx of tourists daily to Anambra East, the cradle of Igbo civilization, in their search and study of the Igbo Nation. The lodge is also designed to cater to traders and businesses across the country who troop to Anambra East to access various agricultural produce and other commercial ventures.

The Financier of the project and the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University, Burundi, Paul Chukwuma, who spoke shortly after the Tourist Lodge was unveiled, stated that his aim for financing the project was to support job creation in Anambra East and to create a business support structure that would encourage the ease of doing business in the area

his words, ‘Anambra East is a focal point in Igbo civilization. Hence, it attracts a lot of visitors daily. We are also proficient in agricultural production, notably rice and fish. Unfortunately, we have limited befitting resting places for these visitors who troop in. To further create jobs and improve the ease of doing business, I had to finance the construction of this lodge to serve as an enabler for businesses in the area.’

The Olivia Tourist Lodge is open for business at affordable rates, Fides learnt.
