Bishop Ezeokafor Constitutes 13-Man Governing Board for St Joseph’s Hospital Adazi-Nnukwu

The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev.  Paulinus Ezeokafor, has constituted a 13-member board for St. Joseph’s Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu. The event took place on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

The board members, who first met with the Bishop at Bishop’s Conference Hall at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, were drafted in as part of the rejuvenation and continuous growth of the health sector in the state through the instrumentality of the Church.

The Bishop, while constituting the board, underscored the importance of the health sector in the state and the role the Church had to play in ensuring that health workers work with the equanimity to serve all creeds and class of people. This was even as he charged the governing board to properly position the hospital in rendering quality services to all and sundry.

The mission hospital which has a long history of existence, has among the coveted board members, the member representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly, Sir. Victor Umeh, and the Commissioner for Health, Anambra State, Dr. Afam Obidike, as members.

Sen. Umeh, while speaking with Fides, expressed gratitude to the proprietor of the hospital, Bishop Ezeokafor, for making what he described as a good selection of experienced people to be part of the board while recalling the long historical connection he had with the hospital.

Assuring the Bishop of the board’s unwavering commitment in the discharge of their duties, Sen. Umeh maintained that their obligation, among many, would centre on providing health services for the needy.

Speaking on areas that the board would call their first shot, the senator also assured that their area of concern would be looked into after their first inaugural meeting where they would receive briefs to know exactly the early problems to tackle.

However, the senator said that funding, provision of state-of-the-art health facilities and handling any ailment within the ambience of the hospital would form part of the challenges they would handle.

Others members of the board included, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Rev. Fr Charles Ndubisi; Rev. Frs. Kenneth Okafor,  Anthony  Anike, Hyacinth Anaekee, Henry Okeke  and Kenneth Okafor.

Also, Dr. Mercy Anugwu; Dr. Ifeoma Ezekwe; Dr. Arinze Ikeotuonye; Engr. Cyril Anetoh; Mrs. Augustina Ezeanoro and Mr Dozie Ezechukwu, formed part of the governing board.
