A state-of-the-art giant grotto of Mother of Perpetual Help that was built by the Catholic Women’s Organisation (CWO) of the Old Awka Diocese at Cana House Complex, Awka, Anambra State, was last Tuesday, June 16, blessed to be a holy place of prayer by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor.
Blessing the grotto, the Catholic prelate, who highlighted the intercessory power of Holy Mother Mary, noted that the importance of holy images, such as the Mother of Perpetual Help Grotto, to the faithful cannot be overemphasized.
He commended the CWO for the grotto project, which according to him was worthwhile at the CWO-owned Cana House Complex, Awka.
Earlier, when she handed over the grotto to the bishop for blessing, the Director, CWO, Awka Diocese, Lady Theresa Azodo, LSM, said the grotto was built to give Holy Mother Mary, the role model of the Catholic Women’s Organisation, a pride of place at the Cana House Complex.
Lady Azodo thanked the donor of the Mother of Perpetual Help Statue, Dr Mrs Celine Okpaleke; the contractor that handled the project and also gave a waiver to part of the cost for the CWO, Engr Dr Alloy Ezeabasili, and others that supported the project for their goodwill. She prayed for God’s continuous blessings on them through the intercession of Mother of Perpetual Help.
