Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday, October 26, witnessed an influx of dignitaries as the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife, held a Thanksgiving Ceremony to appreciate God for her victory in the last election.
The ceremony which began with an ecumenical church service officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor, represented by the Director of Communications, Awka Diocese, Rev Fr Dr Martin Anusi; the Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, His Grace, Bishop Alexander C. Ibezim, represented by Bishop Daniel Olinya of Eha Amufu Diocese; the Presiding Bishop of the Grace of God Mission, Bishop Paul Nwachukwu; and the General Overseer, United Church of Christ Mission, Bishop Dr. Valentine Ijezie, witnessed a deluge of goodwill messages by Governors, Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, their Excellencies, Mr Peter Obi and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, on Senator Uche Ekwunife.
Presenting a goodwill message on behalf of the Governors, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, described Senator Ekwunife as a woman of indomitable spirit and a dependable ally. He noted that Senator Ekwunife’s honesty, integrity and strong will distinguished her as a proponent of good causes, as well as a formidable opponent in any contest.
For his part, the former Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, while eulogizing Senator Ekwunife, described her as a performer whose political antecedents remained impressive. He urged the people to always pray for elected officials to use the public resources entrusted on them for public good.
Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (Okwadike), a former Governor of Anambra State, who spoke shortly before Obi, described the hostess, Senator Uche Ekwunife, as woman of character and substance. Ezeife, after acknowledging cheers from the excited crowd, appreciated Ekwunife for allowing God to use her for the good of the people.
Appreciating her guests, Senator Uche Ekwunife in company of her husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife, and her son, Mr Chidiebere Ekwunife, thanked the guests for sharing in their joy. She noted that the support and goodwill she enjoyed spurred her to do more in the service of the people.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by the National Assembly members and other distinguished guests present.
