Awka South/North Rep Visits Kenneth Dike School

. . . Promises to End Water Scarcity

The representative of Awka North and Awka South at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Engineer Sam Chinedu Onwuaso, Friday, January 24, visited Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School, Awka and other schools in the area.

Speaking shortly after the visit, the Federal lawmaker told Fides that he was impressed by the school’s mode of operation. He also said the good reports he had heard about the school motivated him to embark on the courtesy visit.

‘As a kid, I grew up knowing Kenneth Dike Memorial Secondary School to be a very notorious school which harboured stubborn students, but the report I gathered lately shows that the school is one of the most disciplined schools in Anambra State,’ Onwuaso said.

In a speech, while interacting with the Management of the school, the lawmaker stressed that the only way to end the plague of unemployment in the country was through craft learning and noted that adequate provision for an enabling environment and necessary incentives that support craft learning for students would aid to promote the state of learning crafts in schools.

The lawmaker encouraged the students who displayed their various crafts to keep blazing trail, while calling on the teachers to continue discovering the inherent potentials of the students in order to ensure their energy and time were channeled early towards full actualization of their potentials.

Hon Onwuaso also commended the efforts of Post Primary Secondary School Commission (PPSSC) in the state and that of the school Management under the leadership of the principal, Mrs Ngozi Okonkwo, PSG I, for raising what he described as leaders of tomorrow.

For her part, Mrs Ngozi appreciated Engr Onwuaso for the visit, stating that it took a humble leader to embark on such grassroots visitation. She also appealed to the lawmaker to end the unending state of water scarcity in the school, as she assured him of their prayers.

Responding, Onwuaso said after taking note of the challenges in the school, he would help in creating an enabling environment for learning within the confines of his legislation.

The Federal Science and Technical College (FSTC), Awka, and Federal Government College (FGC), Nise, were among the schools he visited.
