The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Candidates, Prince Charles Chidubem Okoye and High Chief John Nwokoye, in the upcoming Anambra State House of Assembly election for Awka North Constituency, have decried the marginalization rocking the people of the area since the creation of Anambra State.

The duo stated this at the 2019 Patron Feast Day and Sponsors Day of St. JohnBosco Seminary, Isuaniocha, on February 9, 2019, while soliciting support from the people ahead of the State House of Assembly Election scheduled for March 2nd, 2019.

Speaking to Fides, Prince Charles Okoye explained that he was motivated to vie for the position due to the marginalization which people of the area had been experiencing, especially when compared with other LGAs in the state. He decried the unavailability of access road, medical facilities, and infrastructural development, among others in the area.

He noted that the Peoples’ Democratic Party remained the only key and platform to bring sustainable development in the area. He stated that he would open up areas that would provide employment opportunities for the teeming youths, just as he disclosed that women and children would be captured in his agenda, saying his representation would bring to the barest minimum, maternal mortality rate and ensure that children within school age acquired basic education for a brighter future.

He maintained that nonexistence of some necessary infrastructural facilities had limited the people of the area from developing and reduced greatly the influx of people from other areas that would have increased the commercial activities in the area.

Speaking on how to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Awka North, the PDP candidate, reaffirmed his commitment towards partnering with development agencies and reiterated his support to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to achieve the desired change in the area irrespective of party differences.

Also Speaking, the APGA candidate in the upcoming State House of Assembly Election, High Chief John Nwokoye, stated that the lack of quality representation in Awka North LGA, especially at Isuaniocha Community, among other communities in the area, had negatively affected the communities.

He stated it was the situation that forced him into vying for the State House of Assembly to represent the people of Awka North Constituency.

He called for the involvement of the Church in the politics of the day, noting that politics was all about community development and that the Church was at the center of such development.

He maintained that politics should start from the Church in a bid to promote human capital development and checkmate the excesses of the representatives in order to ensure quality representation.
