. . . Vow to Deliver Ekwunife
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) former Ward Chairmen and executives of the party alongside others today dumped the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The decampees numbering over one thousand gave lack of purposeful leadership and poor reward system as reason for the move
The group led by Hon Onyeka Nzeako, the former APGA Chairman of all Chairmen (Ward) and the Anambra Central Coordinator of the G21, a group of former APGA leaders believed that APGA as a political party had lost touch with its purpose of existence.
Conveying their message, Hon Nzeako described the group’s departure from APGA as a relief. He noted that APGA was once the beautiful bride of Ndi Anambra, noting that greed, lack of purpose and vision by her leaders had left the party in comatose.
Speaking further, Nzeako noted that the group’s adoption of Senator Uche Ekwunife as its Candidate for the 2019 Anambra Central Senatorial election was borne out of the solid and visionary contributions she brought into APGA when she was a member of the party between 2010 and 2014.
‘When Senator Ekwunife was a member of our party APGA, she exhibited tremendous courage and showed high regard for party men and women. She also delivered sound representation to the people of Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency which she represented in the House of Representatives,’ Nzeako said.
Continuing, Nzeako lamented that today the leaders of APGA had become insensitive to the plight of members. According to Nzeako, greed, self-centeredness and lack of purpose had become an albatross to the growth of APGA which he said was once the pride of Igboland when individuals like HE Mr. Peter Obi and Senator Uche Ekwunife were in the party.
Welcoming the former Chairmen to PDP, the State Chairman of PDP, Chief Ndubusi Nwobu expressed delight that the former Chairmen and their executives have chosen to follow what he described as path of light, progress and good governance by joining the People’s Democratic Party. He reiterated his commitment to making PDP a respected brand in Anambra State.
Chief Nwobu assured the new entrants that he would ensure that they were well integrated into the party, noting that as grassroots party leaders their role were critical in ensuring that democracy and its dividends was felt in the grassroots.
