The Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, last Sunday held a one day workshop for its workforce. The workshop which took place at Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, was aimed at imbuing the workforce with more skill and knowledge for better performance. The ANSA workshop had the theme: ”Looking forward to my next five years”.
Addressing the participants, the Managing Director of the agency, Chief Jude Emecheta, said the workshop was necessary in order to equip the staff with better ideas on revenue generation, as well as imbuing them with more skill and knowledge for better performance. He noted that the generation of revenue was the duty of all staff and urged them to not just double efforts at revenue collection, but to think out of the box for new methods.
He assured the staff that there was no need to fear as the agency was a creation of the Anambra State Government and backed by law. This was even as he announced that the agency would commence the naming and numbering of streets very soon.
Emecheta who charged the workers to imbibe the right work ethics by doing the right things without being prompted, said the various topics to be discussed by resource persons were carefully selected to impact on the work and lives.
The first speaker, Dr David Nzekwu, Chairman Anambra Revenue Service, spoke on the need for data, arguing that it affected effective revenue collection. He noted that knowing the number of businesses in their sphere of coverage would aid in the projection of revenue target. He advocated for the establishment of a business register from which every business would be recorded and billed appropriately, noting that it was the reason the state government wanted a central revenue collection system.
Other speakers were Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, who spoke on the duties of the agency, which, he said, would administer a health insurance scheme for the people on behalf of the govt.
He also spoke on the need for healthy medication that came from having a health insurance package from the agency, pointing out the advantages of such.
Earlier, the MD/Editor-in-chief of National Light Newspaper, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, who chaired the workshop, praised the State Governor, Willie Obiano, for providing the enablement for the state’s workforce to excel and urged the participants to take advantage of that.
Topics on pension, advertising, building and client services were also handled at the workshop.
