Anglican Cleric Lands Soludo on Infrastructural Development

… As APGA Fan Club Marks Annual Thanksgiving

By Michael Nnebife

An Anglican cleric, the Ven Prince Chuma Oranye, has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for his ongoing infrastructural projects in Awka, the state capital.

The Anglican cleric made the commendation while delivering a sermon during an annual thanksgiving and investiture of patrons and patronesses of the APGA Fan Club, at Marble Arch Hotels, Awka, on Saturday, 14th December, 2024.

The cleric said various Soludo’s projects, such as Awka FunCity, new Government House and Governor’s Lodge, renovation of Alex Ekwueme Square, road reconstructions across Awka metropolis, among others, were true manifestation of good governance, saying that Soludo’s second term bid was assured. He urged the members of the APGA Fan Club to continue to support the governor.

The Ven Oranye, who described the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as an Igbo Party, thanked God for giving its National Chairman, Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, victory over those, who, he said, were determined to end the existence of the party. He urged all APGA leaders to look up to God for continuous victory.

He eulogized the members of the APGA Fan Club, and its Director General, Hon Obiajulu Nwoye, for organizing the event which he described as a great thing of beautiful.

Recalling the pivotal position the grassroots held in the life of any organization, the Ven Oranye enjoined the APGA leadership to take the welfare of the APGA Fan Club as a priority.

In his remarks, the Director General of the Club, Hon Nwoye, highlighted the essence of the event, which, he said, included giving thanks and glory to God for all the marvelous work he was doing in Anambra State through Governor Soludo, among others.

Hon Nwoye, who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Political Mobilization, expressed satisfaction on the level of development the APGA Governments (past and present) had put in place in Anambra State.

According to Nwoye, the APGA began its good work with the Anambra State Integrated Development Strategies, ANIDS, which, he said, resulted in massive development in all sectors simultaneously during Mr Peter Obi’s Administration.

The Soludo’s aide recounted how Governor Obi handed over the mantle of governance to Governor Willie Obiano, whom, he said, bequeathed Anambra State world-class legacy projects such as Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri; International Convention Centre, Awka; among others.

‘As Willie was about to go, he promised that he would hand over to a person who was better than he.

‘Then, the search began, and he found, and gave us Soludo, who is a solution,’ Nwoye said.

According to Nwoye, Governor Soludo had built nine roads with drainage gutters, a general hospital, public pipe borne water in every junction, streetlights in every street, among others, in Okpoko, transforming the community, which he said was known as a slum, to a small London.

He said his principal, on assumption of office, built Amansea-Oba Ofemili Road, and NdiUkwunu-Awa Road, which, he said, were long forgotten making the communities near inaccessible.

While recounting the various ongoing developmental projects Soludo was putting in place in Awka, Nwoye told the members of the APGA Fan Club that Soludo had turned the swampy area of Agu-Awka, Odoziobodo axis, to a FunCity, which, he argued, could only be seen in the cities of developed countries.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, the APGA party man said the personalities who were installed as patrons and patronesses of the APGA Fan Club were the great supporters of APGA, noting that the honour was to appreciate their support to the growth and progress of the party.

In their separate responses, the patrons, who included the Traditional Ruler of Omasi in Ayamelum LGA of the state, Igwe Benjamin Okeji; member representing Anambra East State Constituency, Hon Obi Nweke, represented by Hon Cyril Okafor; Mr Sylvester Molokwu, among others, thanked the club for the honour and expressed readiness to continue to support APGA for Soludo’s second term bid.
