The Anglican Bishop of Gwagwalada Diocese, the Rt Revd Moses Bukpe Tabwaye, has called on Nigerians to embrace the principles of humility, peace and forgiving spirit as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, for eternal life in heaven.
The Anglican Bishop made the call while delivering a sermon during the Burial Service for Prince Sir Afam Anene, at All Saints’ Church, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Thursday, May 1.
The Anglican Bishop equally advised the sympathizers who gathered from far and near to pay last homage to Prince Anene, to amend their ways in order to make heaven in the end of their sojourn here on earth.
The Bishop, who described Prince Sir Anene as a kindhearted man and builder of persons, enjoined the sympathizers to work towards living a purposeful life worthy of emulation, reminding them that no man could give them peace except Jesus Christ.
The Prelate pointed out that there was no appeal court in heaven as nobody could bribe God in order to make heaven.
He warned Christians, especially the bereaved family, not to soil their hands in any manner, no matter the situation, explaining further that the deceased lived a good life.
While assuring the mourners that their late father’s name would always speak for them, Bishop Tabwaye also prayed that the Anene Family would never be stranded nor be put to shame all through their lives, and advised them to always remain proud of their late father’s name.
Tabwaye, who noted that the memory of the righteous was a blessing to any nation, stressed that people were remembering the deceased today because of his name.
‘Prince Sir Afam Anene’s name, when spoken, brings lives, gratitude and inspiration to many as part of his antecedents,’ he said.
In an interview, the State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Anambra State Directorate, Mr Edozie Ajaegbu, described the deceased as a hardworking officer.
Mr Ajaegbu added that as a Director, the deceased traversed almost all the departments in the Agency in Abuja.
He advised the Anene Family to emulate the character of their father and always uphold his hard earned legacies.
In his brief remarks shortly after the service, a son of the deceased, Mr Nnabuife, thanked the mammoth crowd of sympathizers, for honouring his father and identifying with the family in their trying moment.
The service which featured a special prayer for the Anene Family by Bishop Tabwaye, a special rendition in honour of the deceased by the choir of the church, was attended by the Anglican Bishop of Oturkpo Diocese, the Rt Revd Ben Owochela; the noble Knights and Ladies of St Christopher, Diocese on the Niger; College of priests, among other personalities.
Interment, condolence visits, among others, at the Anene Igwe Ibebeagha Royal family’s compound, Umuezeagu, Umuota Obosi in Idemili North LGA, climaxed the burial service.
