Anambra Village Chairmen’s Forum Lauds Soludo’s Development Strides

…Hails Chikezie for Humane Disposition

By Jude Atupulazi

The Forum of Anambra Village Chairmen, consisting of the leaders of Villages in Anambra Communities, has held its inaugural meeting, lauding the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, for what it described as his uncommon passion in making Anambra State work.

The group aims to collaborate among themselves and seek stronger ties with the government towards domesticating government policies in the grassroots, as the custodians of the people in their respective domains.

‘As a social component of the community, we drive the social strata in our towns,’ Sir Ossy Ozalagba, who is the Convener of the Forum, told Fides.

He further said that having taken cognizance of the happenings in the state, the challenges, and their attendant demands, a collective decision was taken to unite and be counted as stakeholders who were committed and determined in making Anambra a livable and sustainable homeland for all.

‘As the common tier of society, we have resolved to support the Soludo Government, having shown uncommon faith in making Anambra great,’ Ozalagba said.

He enumerated some successes recorded so far under the Soludo Administration as the massive road constructions going on simultaneously around the state; free education in its real sense, unlike what was tenable in the past where it was partial free education; intensive human capacity development through the 1st Innovative Youth Skill Acquisition and Empowerment which he described as never seen before, Code named “1 Youth, 2 Skills”.

‘It is a catalyst for social and economic progression, which has brought relative succour to Anambra Youths who are genuinely interested in learning a skill for economic empowerment. The programme is indeed a key one, as it has proven to be the elixir for a sustainable society, as the governor has set this innovative template to build human capacity,’ Ozalagba stated.

He said that it had not only afforded the youth a platform to learn skills of their choice, but had seen them provided with funds to start up the skills learnt.

‘Our forum will see that we partner the government through the Ministry of Youths in complementing their efforts in monitoring the programme by the Ministry, led by Hon Pat Aghamba, who has shown unwavering passion in driving this programme,’ Ozalagba further noted.

He also pointed at the resuscitation of Anambra Water Resources, which, he noted, had been moribund for close to 20 years.

The seasoned youth leader described it as remarkable as people had almost forgotten that it was possible having access to portable water supply.

He also pointed at the urbanization of an Anambra slum, formerly known as Okpoko, but now known as New Haven, as another milestone recorded by ‘The Project Driven Governor Soludo’.

On the free Maternal Health Care, he said that Primary Health Care Centres were getting due attention from Soludo, including hospitals, and particularly noted the hospitals built in Okpoko and Fegge, which he described as two communities that were isolated under past governments.

‘Today, the Story has changed as the governor has shown sincere commitment in lifting these places, giving them every basic facility to make life meaningful and valuable for them.

‘There are other valuable developments going on around the state, which we are optimistic will add value to our dear state.

‘We, the Forum of Anambra Village Chairmen, will synchronize our individual strengths towards building a synergy never seen before in making Anambra work for the good of us all,’ Ozalagba stated, while commending High Chief Inno-Posh Chikezie, a humanitarian of repute, for sponsoring the group’s inaugural meeting.

‘He promised to stand through with us in pursuit of a valuable society and has shown uncommon love to humanity through his actions.

In no distant time, we shall take positive steps in reinforcing our faith and support to Gov Soludo, whom we freely gave our collective mandate to wield on our behalf. We owe that duty in joining hands to make Anambra succeed,’ he concluded.
