Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) is an Agency set up to promote and implement development activities at the grassroot level. The Agency is currently implementing World Bank Assisted Community and Social Development Project- Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) in the state. CSDP is a World Bank assisted project which aims at poverty reduction in rural communities using Community Driven Development (CDD) approach.
ANCSDA successfully organized a one-day sensitization meeting of Traditional Rulers, President Generals, Woman leaders and Youth leaders of all the communities in Dunukofia LG council of the state. The Six communities in Dunukofia LGA are Ukpo, Ifitedunu, Ukwulu, Umudioka, Umunnachi and Nawgu.
During his opening remarks and presentations at the Sensitization meeting, the General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu took the participants on the overview of CSDP-AF, the roles and responsibilities of the LG Chairmen, LG Review Committee (LGRC), Local Govt. Desk Officers (LGDO), Traditional Rulers, PGs, Woman and Youth Leaders etc, and the benefits of CSDP to the focal poor communities in Dunukofia LGA. Also, the Operation Manager, ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo did presentation on the Community Development Plan (CDP), Group Development Plan (GDP) and Community Response Plan (CRP) cycles which according to her represents designed plans for CSDP implementation in the poor communities. The CDP is a designed plan for micro projects (MPs) implementation in Communities, GDP is for micro projects implementation for Vulnerable Group in the community while CRP is for micro projects implementation for those 2018 flood affected communities which will be done in conjunction with State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). The Project officer, Gender and Vulnerable Group, ANCSDA, Chinyere Onalu also addressed the participants on various requirements for the formation of vulnerable groups and their derivable benefits in CSDP-AF.
The participants present expressed their joy on CSDP which according to them is a good community development iproject in Anambra State and will help to reduce poverty while also empowering the poor communities in the state. The Communication Officer, ANCSDA, Mr Nnamdi Onuzulike, used the opportunity to thank our Governor,HE, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano, for his great effort in ensuring that our state became part of CSDP-AF which according to him is a pro-poor intervention project in the communities.
CSDP intervenes in such sectors as Health, Education, Water Resources, Rural Electrification, Transport, Socio Economic, Environment/Natural Resources, Gender & Vulnerable.
