Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency (ANCSDA) is an Agency set up to promote and implement development activities at the grassroots level. The Agency is currently implementing World Bank Assisted Community and Social Development Project- Additional Financing (CSDP-AF) in the state. CSDP is a World Bank assisted project which aims at poverty reduction in rural communities using Community Driven Development (CDD) approach.

ANCSDA became effective on August 1st, 2018 and commenced its development activities last year in the 5 core poor focal LGAs based on the poverty map of the state. The 5 focal LGAs are Awka North, Orumba North, Anambra East, Anambra West and Ayamelum LGAs.

According to information from the Communication Officer, ANCSDA, Mr. Nnamdi Onuzulike, the State Agency, having received approval from the World Bank, has now expanded its intervention to poor LG Councils and rural communities in the state with the addition of 7 new focal LGAs namely Oyi, Ogbaru, Anaocha, Idemili North, Orumba South, Dunukofia and Ihiala LGAs, thereby bringing the total current LGAs for CSDP intervention to 12 in the state.

ANCSDA recently had a Strategic Sensitization meeting with Chairmen of the seven new focal LGAs. The Sensitization meeting which took place at the Conference Hall of the JAAC Building Government House Awka, served as a platform for sensitizing the LG Chairmen on the expected roles and the CSDP and also building capacity of the LG chairmen to perform well in the project was anchored by the General Manager, ANCSDA, Mr Chudi Mojekwu, and the Operations Manager, ANCSDA, Mrs Uche Nwaizugbo.

Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) is a pro-poor intervention in sectors such as Health, Education, Water Resources, Rural Electrification, Transport, Socio Economic, Environment/Natural Resources, Gender and Vulnerable.
