Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, has visited the Okija General Hospital, in Ihiala Local Government Area of the State with the objective to improve facilities and health care services being provided at the hospital.
His visit was to ascertain the situation of the health facility and also to assess workers attitude to work, with a view to giving the people of the community and others who make use of the health facility quality health care.
Speaking while addressing the health care providers and other staff members of the hospital, Dr. Okpala charged them to take their job seriously with the aim of giving Ndi Anambra the best health services through maintaining the universal acceptable standard in medical practice.
He assured of government’s greater commitment towards overall health care delivery in Anambra State as he promises more capacity building programs for the health care providers in the State.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Anambra Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, noted that the Health sector in Anambra State has been repositioned.
He pointed out that the new steps taken by the Commissioner will go a long way to improve service delivery by the health care providers.
In her remarks, the Matron in charge of the hospital, Mrs. Grace Okonkwo who noted that the visit is timely, assured that they would be more dedicated to duty to ensure prompt service delivery.
In their separate remarks, some indigenes of Okija Community who joined the Commissioner including the Chairman Dozzy Group , Dr. Dan Chukwudozie, represented by the coordinator of the foundation, Mr.Titus Ewuzie and a former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Bridget Obi, promised to contribute in sensitizing their people on the importance of good health, to ensure that the health facility which is built to standard by the State government is functional.
