..& SOUTH AS OBY OROGBU COMMISSIONS PROJECTS IN ACHALLA AND OKPUNO
The Labour Party community-to-community campaign train, led by the Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; the Governorship Candidate, Dr. George Moghalu; the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro; and the Member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Oby Orogbu, on Tuesday stormed Achalla, Mbaukwu, Nibo, Amawbia, Okpuno, and Ifite in a renewed effort to strengthen grassroots engagement across Anambra State.
The delegation was received with excitement and royal blessings by traditional rulers, including His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ositadinma Nwokedi of Achalla, and HRH Eze Ugonwanne, Dr. Sir M.C. Ngene (JP), the Ezeike IV of Nibo.
Addressing the monarchs and their cabinets, Dr. George Moghalu decried the deplorable state of infrastructure across Awka North, describing it as the result of years of failed leadership and neglect. He said, “The roads in Achalla are scandalous, and no community should be this forgotten despite huge allocations from the federal government. Awka North receives billions monthly, yet there’s nothing tangible to show for it.”
He further warned the people against selling their conscience during the election season, saying, “Very soon, they will come again with money to buy your votes. Please, don’t sell your future for peanuts. Let’s reject bad leadership and vote for the Labour Party — the only party that truly has the people’s interest at heart.”
Prof. Oby Orogbu, in her remarks, lamented the total absence of government presence in Achalla and neighboring communities, noting that it was shameful for such an important area to remain neglected. She listed several constituency projects she personally attracted, including the reconstruction of classrooms at Community Secondary School, Achalla; renovation of rural health centres; and installation of solar-powered streetlights. “Very soon, they will come again to ask for the votes of Achalla people — what and what will they point to that they have done for Achalla? Our people deserve better, and that is exactly what the Labour Party represents,” she declared.
The campaign team later joined Prof. Orogbu to commission the newly renovated Community Primary School, Okpuno, one of her constituency projects aimed at improving learning environments for pupils. The rallies across Mbaukwu, Nibo, Amawbia, and Ifite witnessed massive turnouts, as residents sang solidarity songs and pledged their support for Mr. Peter Obi, Dr. George Moghalu, and the Labour Party ahead of the governorship election.
In his address, Mr. Peter Obi reaffirmed that leadership must be rooted in humility, compassion, and service to humanity. He praised Dr. Moghalu’s integrity, competence, and track record, expressing confidence in his ability to restore purposeful governance in Anambra. “George will work, and his deputy, an educationist, will ensure that our schools and hospitals receive the attention they deserve,” Obi said.
The visit reinforced the Labour Party’s message of hope, accountability, and people-centered governance that will bring genuine development to every part of the state.
