…Restates Commitment to One tenure

Ahead of the 2025 Governorship Election in Anambra State, the candidate of the Labour Party for the election, Dr George Moghalu (Ohamadike Nnewi), has promised to pull government force to develop agriculture on a massive note in Omambala axis of the state if elected. Omambala is a large clan made up of six local government areas which include Anambra East and West, Oyi, Ayamelum, Awka North and Dunukofia.

Moghalu who made the promise while addressing Omambala stakeholders during a town hall meeting at Umeri, told the audience made up of eminent personalities, including top ranking traditional rulers, elder statesmen, captains of industry, the clergy and the political class, that he knew about the potential of Omambala Clan in agriculture and would ensure that the potential would be fully unleashed for the benefit of the state if he emerged the Governor of Anambra State.

‘There is no sentiment about it. Omambala has the potential to feed Anambra State as the food basket of the state. And I want to assure you that I will elevate Omambala to take up the noble role as the food basket of the state.

I will provide security and ensure that farmers are provided with all the necessary materials to enable them to engage in mechanized farming to cultivate and process food at the commercial level whereby people can go to Eke Awka or Nkwo Nnewi and buy food stuff produced in Omambala villages,’ Moghalu assured.

Going further on security, the Labour Party Candidate told the audience that he would put an end to security challenges like killings and kidnapping by applying modern security gadgets as obtainable in Enugu, such as vehicles with radio communication, walkie talkies, wider range of CCTV cameras and adequate remuneration of vigilante operatives. He added that he would make security work attractive to university graduates.

In summary, Ohamadike Nnewi, who also assured that he would enhance quality education, health care services and boost road infrastructure across the Omambala axis, promised to restore people’s confidence in government by being accessible, transparent and accountable in discharging his duties.

Most importantly, he vowed to serve for only one tenure to pave the way for the smooth maintenance of zoning and rotation of power in Anambra State.

In response, speaker after speaker appreciated the Labour Party Candidate for what they described as his passion for the well-being of Anambra State, affirming that he had the qualities needed to move the state to next level.

Opening the flood of response, the President of the Omambala Union and elder statesman, Dr Chike Obidigbo, told the visitor that Omambala was at home with his plan for Anambra State, especially his decision to serve for only one tenure to pave the way for zoning and rotation of power to remain on board in the state.

The elder statesman who is also the President of Osisioma Foundation added, ‘Sir George, you are my friend and I know you very well. Because you recognize zoning, we will make sure that zoning remains on board, so that after the next Governor from the South completes eight years for South, it will come to Central and subsequently to the North again,’ said Obidigbo.

Other speakers, such as the former Chief Judge of Anambra State, Rtd Justice Obidigwe; Zonal Chairman of Anambra North Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igwe Dr Benjamin Okeji; and the Traditional Ruler of Umeri, HRM Igwe Ben Emeka, in one voice noted that God was the maker of kings and advised the Labour Party Candidate to keep moving around to sell his ideas and plans with prayer, believing that he would emerge as Governor if he was the choice of God.
