Foremost Catholic Communications outfit, Fides Media, last Tuesday held a meeting with the Anambra State Government to explore ways of collaboration. This followed the visit of Fides Media Team led by the new Director, Reverend Father Mark Obiorah Ikeh, to the State’s Information Ministry where they engaged the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Sir Law Mefor.
During the visit, Fr Ikeh and his team, comprising Alexander Johnson Adejoh, Production Manager of Fides Media; Rilwan Amos, Head of Fides Studio; and Jessica Akabueze, a serving corps member; also met with Honorable Obinna Nwankwo, Senior Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, on Media and Publicity, as well as Sir Mefor.
The discussions centered on strengthening ties between Fides Media and the Anambra State Government, with a focus on promoting good governance and moral values.
Commissioner Mefor emphasized the crucial role of the Church in shaping moral values and promoting good governance. He noted that the Church’s teachings had a profound impact on the people, and that Fides Media, as a social communications arm of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, had a vital role to play in that regard.

‘The Church is the best place to learn morals,’ Mefor said, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Government and the Church.
In response, Fr. Ikeh expressed Fides Media’s readiness to partner with the Anambra State Government in promoting moral values and good governance. He assured the Commissioner and the SSA that Fides Media would work closely with the Government to achieve shared goals, leveraging its platforms, including Fides Newspaper and Fides Studio, to amplify the Government’s initiatives and programmes.
The visit was deemed fruitful by both parties, with discussions geared towards deepening partnership and promoting the common good. As Fides Media continues to play a significant role in Anambra State’s Media landscape, this engagement marks a significant step towards strengthening ties between the Church and the Government, ultimately benefiting the people of Anambra State.
