Anambra FA Boss Hails Rangers over League Triumph

By Jude Atupulazi

The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Mr Chikelue Iloenyosi, who also doubles as the Chairman, Board of Trustees, All Nigeria Players Union, has congratulated the iconic Rangers International Football Club of Enugu for winning the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League title for the eighth time in their illustrious History.

This is just as Iloenyosi also congratulated El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri for making an immediate return to the elite division, a year after their demotion to the lower league. Iloenyosi once played for El Kanemi.

Rangers International FC won the NPFL trophy with 70 points last weekend after beating their hosts, Gombe United, 2-1, in a formality match, having the previous weekend secured the league title after beating Bendel Insurance of Benin 2-0 in Enugu.

The General, as Iloenyosi is affectionately called, commended the Rangers GM, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, for his hard work, which, he pointed out, led to the swift transformation of Rangers after the team struggled the previous season.

He also commended the players and technical crew of Rangers, led by Fidelis Ilechukwu, a.k.a. The Working One, for doing a good job.

Iloenyosi also congratulated El Kanemi FC for gaining promotion to the NPFL and also standing a chance of qualifying for the CAF Confederations Cup if they beat Abia Warriors on July 29 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos State.

The FA boss also disclosed plans for a Grassroots Football Development Tournament that will kick off in Anambra State soon which will involve a Football Academy for the U13s, U15s, and U17s football teams.

He said the project was one among many of such proposed by the Anambra Football Association.
