Anambra CP Commends Soludo, Lawmakers for Signing Anti-Cultism, Anti-Touting Bills into Law

By Jude Atupulazi

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commended the Anambra State Government and State House of Assembly members, for the signing into law, a jail term of a minimum of 21 years with no option of fine on any person found culpable of cult-related activities.

This is as he also approved the legal confinement of six months or the option to pay half a million Naira on anyone harassing innocent individuals to obtain illegal tolls or any related activities in the state.

In a press statement signed by SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra Police Command, June 12, and made available to Fides, the CP noted that those developments would further re-echo the campaign against touting and cultism, especially the Police advocacy programme: ”Police Campaign against Cultism and Other Vices”, POCAVCO, a programme targeted at sensitizing the youths on the dangers of bad groups, drugs, and other vices.

The CP therefore warned criminal elements in to have a rethink as the Command would make sure that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law. He also urged parents/guardians to

admonish their children/wards in this regard.
