Prof Obiora Okonkwo, one of the teaming aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Anambra State November 8, 2025 governorship election, has declared to Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led National Working Committee of the party as the consensus candidate for the election.

Okonkwo made the declaration while addressing the party NWC during the official commissioning of the new APC State Secretariat in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Saturday.

This was coming at the wake of the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ganduje in one of his strategic meeting with an APC support group known as Booth 2 Booth with Bola Tinubu at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja stated that the party would prefer a consensus candidate to an unpopular candidate for the Anambra governorship ticket ahead of the election.

“I’ll present an award to Anambra APC if they could be united and produce a consensus candidate to avoid the stress and the financial jamboree that comes with holding the conventional primary election to elect a candidate,” he pledged.

Speaking further on the development, the United Nigeria airline CEO, said he remains the best candidate APC can use to unseat the incumbent governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) at the election.

He expressed confidence that if elected as the governor, Anambra will be poised to witness unprecedented growth, peace, and development that would transform the lives of Ndi-Anambra.

“I promise to uphold the values of good governance, transparency, and service to the people of Anambra State, for these are the bedrock of APC’s vision for the country,” he added.

Okonkwo noted that he remained committed in supporting the ongoing transformation policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led-government, adding that he will work with the President to ensure that the vision of a greater Anambra State is achieved for the benefit of all residents irrespective of tribe, ethic region and political affiliations.
