
….Master Trainers Engaged in Capacity Building Workshop for Optimal Service Delivery

Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development has engaged the master trainers of 1 Youth 2 Skills Programme, Phase II, in a capacity building workshop, to enable them to acquire the right values and positive mindset needed to actualize the vision of the programme.
According to the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, the workshop, which took place on Wednesday, 28th August, 2024, at International Convention Centre Agu-Awka, was also to ‘enable the master trainers to know, understand, believe and drive the vision of 1Youth 2 Skills Solution as well as the overall vision of the State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo,’ for youth development in the state.
‘They will be also taught how to use training materials like course content, logbook, and attendance sheets or reports…, among other requirements that will help them deliver maximum result in this second phase of 1 Youth 2 Skills Solution,’ the Commissioner said.
According to him, ‘1 Youth 2 Skills Solution is an initiative of Prof Charles Soludo, designed with a key objective of redefining youth empowerment from immediate consumption to a more productive, innovative, exportive and impactful venture.’
The programme, the Commissioner said, was also aimed at turning Anambra into the biggest skill hub in subSaharan Africa.
He added that 1 Youth 2 Skills ‘is a developmental sequential programme that consists of five important schemes, namely Apprenticeship, Entrepreneurship, Cooperatives Formation, Business Financing, and Mentorship.
‘The essence of the Apprenticeship model is to ensure that the trainees learn not just a vocational skill, but also the business associated with that skill.
‘Within this Apprenticeship scheme, there are very important enablers that will help to actualize the objectives of the scheme.
‘One of these, is this value re-orientation work, which we are holding today.
‘Therefore, it’s paramount that we take maximum advantage of this workshop to achieve a maximum result with a highest possible standard, as what Mr Governor expects from us, is the best,’ he told the master trainers.
Mr Agha Mba congratulated the master trainers, for successfully passing through rigorous selection and screening processes involved in the programme, urging them to prove their competence, commitment and creditability, which he said, would determine how long they would remain in the programme.
He reminded them that the futures and destines of the young trainees assigned to them, lie in their hands.
‘So, do not destroy them because if you do, history will not be kind to you.
‘Your contributions in reshaping their lives to be economically productive and socially responsive will never be forgotten and will never go unrewarded by God and humanity,’ Agha Mba assured the master trainers.
He thanked Governor Soludo, for being intentional and proactive in human capital development, especially as it concerns Anambra youths.
He added that Soludo had taken youth agenda to the next level by creating limitless opportunities and boundless possibilities, for Anambra youths.
Also, the keynote speaker and Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon TonyCollins Nwabunwanne, pointed out that the success of the 1 Youth 2 Skills Programme lies on the the master trainers, whom he advised to take the programme seriously.
Felicitating with the master trainers, the Chief of Protocol to Governor Soludo, Hon Chinedu Nwoye, advised them to have passion to deliver on the programme.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Mrs Chinwe Okoli, described the master trainers as vital instruments through which the programme would be delivered, charging them to be committed and focus on the expected result Governor Soludo wants.
In their separate lectures,  the Special Assistant to Governor Soludo on Youth Development, Hon Emeka Omata; Mr Tochukwu Ebeku of Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency; and Mr Daniel Nduka took the master trainers on the use of training materials; data entry; and how to navigate the Ministry’s website, respectively.
In separate interviews with the press, some of the trainers, Emordi Chiemele, Ngozi Udeoba, Tina Chinagolum, among others, said the workshop was educative, and pledged to deliver on the mandate optimally.
