An Awka Diocesan Catholic priest, Rev Fr Patrick Nnaemeka Okeke, has charged all on lives of love, care and kindness towards one another, saying that a loveless Christian is a contradiction.
Rev Fr Okeke gave the charge in his homily of the First Solemn Thanksgiving Mass of the first Isulo indigenous Catholic priest, Rev Fr Emmanuel Chibuikem Oguejiofor, at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Isulo, Orumba South L.G.A, Anambra State, on July 14, 2019. He flayed those who according to him, pray unceasingly, but lacked virtues of Christian kindness and goodwill, saying that love ought not to lack among Christians.
According to Fr Okeke, who is the parish priest of Holy Trinity Parish, Isuofia, ‘God has called all to one another without division, and every Christian anticipating to make heaven in the end ought not to discriminate. We should be charitable to both the good and the bad.
He continued, ‘As people of God, you must learn to show pity and love to one another, have heart of kindness, see the suffering Christ in your fellow human being and extend hands of goodwill to him and as your neighbour.
The priest advocated for practical Christian life of charity that would positively affect the lives of others among all, and kicked against what he described as cosmetic Christianity.
